Many people prefer to self-file their taxes. If you qualify for our Free Tax Services, then you likely qualify for one of the following FREE online self-file options.  If you get stuck or just need a little support with self-filing, visit a self-file lab available at several of our Free Tax Sites.

IMPORTANT: When using any of the self file options, the filer will NEVER be asked to pay for the filing if they meet the eligibility guidelines. If the systems indicates there will be a charge, do not proceed as you  are either not eligible or have entered wrong information. LABC and our partners CANNOT refund or credit anyone if a filer is charged.

*In the case a filer is ineligible, check to see if they maybe eligible for the other free software or use VITA.

*In the case where wrong data was entered, please go back and review that information was accurately entered.

SELF-FILE OPTION 1: TurboTax Freedom Edition 2010
To qualify for free federal and state tax preparation using TurboTax Freedom Edition, you must meet one of the following criteria:

• 2010 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $31,000 or less; or
• Qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC); or
• Served Active Duty Military with Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $57,000 or less.

To qualify for free federal and state tax preparation using Myfreetaxes.com (powered by H&R Block TaxCut®), you must have earned an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of less than $57,000 in 2010.
